ATHENS – Aaron Murray is one step closer to being the starting quarterback at Georgia…
Richt: Murray Has Not Won the QB Job
Share "First, Aaron has not won the job. I have been saying that since the depth chart came out. All the depth chart said is where we see them right now. Aaron might win the job; Logan Gray might win the job. Hutson Mason might win the job for that matter," the head coach said before the Savannah Bulldog Club meeting. Richt met with Gray earlier this week to talk about the future of the Missouri native, and said in a prepared statement that Gray was "weighing his options." Wednesday Richt gave no indication that he wanted Gray to leave. In fact, Richt was quick to say to reporters and to television cameras pointed in his direction that the Bulldogs still plan on having three scholarship quarterbacks on campus in the fall: Murray, Gray and incoming freshman Huston Mason. "We want Logan in the best position where he can help Georgia win," Richt said. Richt also said Wednesday that he was unhappy with the end result of the 2009 season. "We didn't win the East, so it was not very good," he said. "Every year our goal is to win the East. That's the number one goal we can control. If you win the East you play for the SEC, and you can't control it after that."
