Tennessee Week: Thursday Practice Report

ATHENS - The No. 12-ranked Georgia Bulldogs held their final practice of the week at Sanford Stadium on Thursday, working out in helmets and shorts as artificial noise was played over the sound system.

The Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1 SEC) travel to Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday to face the Tennessee Volunteers (2-2, 0-1 SEC) at 3:30 p.m. at Neyland Stadium on CBS.

Prior to the practice, with lasted 90 minutes, Georgia head coach Mark Richt met with the media.

"We're going to the stadium to try and get a little crowd noise piped in there and help our guys get a taste of what it feels like," Richt said. "We just need to finish with a good dress rehearsal. Hopefully everybody understands the plan well by the end of the day, and we'll know exactly how to call it."

When asked if senior tailback Kregg Lumpkin was ready to get back into the tailback rotation, Richt said he has not met with coach Tony Ball to discuss it yet but did talk about how Lumpkin has looked in practice this week.

"It looks like he's going to be able to carry the ball. I saw a couple passes, one he dropped and one he caught. The one that was closer to his body he caught it and the one that was further away from his body he did not…If he's not ready, he's very close to being ready."
