2007 Fall Camp: Day Two Practice Report

ATHENS - Thunder, lightning and a brief rainstorm interrupted the Georgia Bulldogs' second practice of the fall on Sunday afternoon. The Dogs returned to their locker room about 30 minutes into the session due to lightning. They returned approximately an hour later and worked out for another hour and a half, trimming five periods from the original practice plan.

"The weather helped us and hurt us," head coach Mark Richt said. "We came out for about a half an hour before the lightning got us. When we came back out and finished, it had cooled down and we had a great day. We had great effort and enthusiasm. If wasn't like yesterday when it was so smokin' hot it seemed to sap some energy out of them. We looked much better today."

Richt said he has been generally pleased with all the Bulldogs' skill position players to this point.

"We're making plays," Richt said. "All of our corners have really good ball skills. Our safeties do too. Asher Allen is the one who has made the most plays there, though. All of our receivers are catching the ball. We've had very few drops. Stafford has thrown the ball extremely well in all situations. We'll know more about the big guys when we put the pads on."

The Bulldogs will practice in shoulder pads for the first time on Monday and are slated to don full pads on Thursday, when two practices are on tap.

Starting cornerback Bryan Evans suffered a hamstring injury late in Sunday's session.

"He pulled a hamstring," Richt said. "We're not sure how severe it is, but I know he won't be back Monday."
