Cox learning a lot this spring

Joe Cox

ATHENS – Joe Cox spoke with Dean Legge for a short time about Georgia's spring practices.

Dean Legge: How has your spring been so far?

Joe Cox: It's been really good – I have learned a lot. I think I am coming along pretty good, and I think I have a pretty good grasp of the offense.

You've got four guys out there sharing the rotation, and there's been a lot of attention – it's been a little different this season…

It has been tough because you know that every rep counts that much more. At the same time we are just trying to go out and better ourselves. We are trying to keep it as much fun as possible, and I think we are doing a good job of that.

Has there been a wide receiver that has stuck out to you?

No, but one person that I do think about a lot is Mikey Henderson. He made the switch from defense to offense, and he's been doing really well. Of course all of the receivers that we have had the last few years – like Mohamed last year and Kenneth the past couple of years, and T.J. Gartrell – they have looked really good. I think Mikey is coming along, too, and I think he's going to help us a lot this year.

What are the last things you need to work on during the final part of spring practice?

Making sure that we finish strong; we've started out well, and we want to finish as well if not better than the first half. We still need to keep trying to get better each day. We still have some more stuff going in during the next few days, so we need to make sure we stay focused, and get it done.

Has it been relatively vanilla, or have y'all been complex?

The first couple of days we were in our base-type plays. But now we are starting to get into some stuff we have not done before, and we are getting into some complex stuff we put in at the end of last season. We are about halfway through our playbook right now – we still have some stuff to learn.
