Sugar Bowl: 12/31 Practice Report

ATLANTA - The Georgia Bulldogs ended the calendar year with a practice in helmets and sweats at St. Pius High School on Saturday morning. Georgia now has just a walkthrough-type practice scheduled before its Monday night game against West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl.

"It was a pretty good week of practice," said head coach Mark Richt. "I hope we're in good enough condition to play hard enough for as long as we will need to. I think we got better as the week went along."

On Friday night most of the team attended the Peach Bowl at the Georgia Dome, just a few blocks from team headquarters at the Omni Hotel.

"I think going to the game last night was good, just to see it from a different prospective and hopefully get excited about our game coming up. Any time you look at a bowl game you can usually see one team that seems to be a little more excited than the other team or maybe being more prepared. I think we understand that momentum is such a crucial part of it," Richt said.

The Sugar Bowl will be televised live on ABC at 8:37 p.m. ET on Jan. 2. Recommended Stories
