Recruits Pour Into Athens

Recruits Pour Into Athens

ATHENS - Recruiting notes from Georgia’s big weekend and 45-21 win over Clemson.

- Darius Slayton was back in Athens and a decision may come "sooner rater than later" for the Scout 300 ATH. He loved the crowd and the atmosphere -- how it was so loud the entire game. Slayton is such a quiet, reserved young man and he is not trying to say much about his recruitment. An end could come very soon.

- The UGA coaches straight up asked 2016 OLB Jaleel Laguins -- When are you going to commit? He said he laughed and just said he didn't know. He knows the Dawgs like him a lot.

- Georgia is No. 1 for 2016 CB, Chad Clay... He met with Pruitt and they broke down the halftime changes and how Clay could be used in his system. Clay said, "Coach Pruitt wants me because of my size and my ability to play man coverage. He said he likes me a lot."

- New commit Van Jefferson "loved it" at Georgia... He loved the atmosphere and the crowd... Spent time with the coaches too.

- Donte Jackson still there early Sunday afternoon... Leaving a little later on Sunday. He loved the atmosphere and he has spent time with multiple coaches during the visit. He know is he is wanted there.

- Tarvarus McFadden missed his flight, but still made it up... Still there on Sunday afternoon. FSU leads, UGA making STRONG impression.

- Keep an eye on Emanul McGirt... Not leaving until Monday. Could a commitment take place? Yes... It is something I know is on his mind. UGA is high in not only his mind, but his dad's too.

- Roquan Smith and Terry Godwin are acting like brothers -- Those two are practically inseparable. I still like Georgia's chances with Smith. Roquan spent a lot of time with Trenton Thompson and Christian Owens too.

- Trenton Thompson now says WE when talking about Georgia. He was all over the place and was receiving hugs by fans in and out of the stadium. He spent a lot of time with Terry Godwin and Gary McCrae.

- Micah Abernathy loved the atmosphere and the way Georgia played a lot of players. I've been told by numerous other adults in attendance that Micah's father received a lot of attention. The official visit to Oregon may not take place next weekend. I expect a decision within the next two weeks and UGA is in the thick of this race.

- 2016 RB JaQua Daniels had commitment on his mind, but did not pull the trigger this time. He is getting really close... He spent time with BMac again.

- Elbert County (GA) 2016 ATH Mecole Hardman told me this morning that Pruitt offered him after the game. Hardman loved the atmosphere and says now that UGA is in his top five.
