Crunch Time for Chigbu

ATHENS – After nearly a day on Georgia’s campus, Michael Chigbu is impressed.

Michael Chigbu, a Scout.com five-star wide receiver and 2015 prospect out of Holy Cross School in New Orleans, spent his last 24 hours touring Georgia’s Athens campus, speaking to coaches and talking educational opportunities. Chigbu says he’s intrigued by the whole Georgia experience.

“What stood out the most was how happy their players were to be there,” Chigbu said.

That’s definitely one plus for Chigbu. Another was head coach Mark Richt. Richt had a little one-on-one time with the 6-foot-2, 210-pound rising senior. Chigbu said it was a very enlightening conversation.

“(We) talked about family, his religion, his success in the past and what we looks at doing towards the future,” Chigbu said. “He talked about how I would fit in and how Coach (Tony) Ball will get me to where I need to be.”

The whole trip helped Chigbu think about his decision, which is most likely to be made by next week.

“It’s a great place. I was impressed,” Chigbu said. “It helped for me to finally see the coaches and the environment I could possibly be dealing with.”

We are hearing his decision will be made between Texas A&M and Georgia.
