A look at which offensive performers impressed at Ohio State on Sunday.
NFTC Columbus: Top Offensive Linemen
Also just a member of the Class of 2016, Drake Jackson (6'2/284) made his way up from Kentucky and showed well in his drills. Jackson already holds offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt.
Austin Treneff (6'2/300) of Grove City (OH) also was a standout at Center. He showed good lateral movement when he was engaged and a solid base.
Overall it was a good day for the centers as Sullivan Simpson, an All-State lineman from Henry Clay High School in Kentucky used his hands well to batter with the defensive tackles
The Blue Grass State was well represented in the trenches as Christian Olmstead of Simon Kenton was also a standout at guard. With a quick drop step and active hands, Kenton won the majority of his reps.
The interior linemen were much more successful on the whole than the tackles in slowing down the defensive line, and Brice Hinton of Trotwood Madison in Ohio was a guard who was deceptively light on his feet.
There were several linemen who stood out in drills but didn't win enough reps to warrant a highlight package. One of those such players was Penn State commitment Sterling Jenkins, all 6'8 and 305 pounds of him. Jenkins is the first player taken in any draft among the offensive linemen for long term potential. He moves like a power forward on the field. He's fluid and light on his feet for his size, but he had difficulty using his hands and taking advantage of his reach during the one on ones.
Ryan Podgorski (6'5/260) of South Park (Pa.) has a terrific frame and good footwork. He moved well and plays with a strong base.
Kayden Lyles is just a freshman, and at 6'3 and 300 pounds, the Saguaro (Ariz.) standout has a big future ahead of him. He lined up at right tackle and had difficulty with some of the speed rushers, but let's check back in on him in two years and see if he has trouble with anyone.
