Rumph Surging?

ATHENS - Georgia practiced for an hour and a half at the Woodruff Practice Fields with temperatures in the upper 50s and in wet conditions on Friday afternoon.

This marked the sixth practice of the spring. Georgia will practice for the third consecutive day on Saturday with a scrimmage at Sanford Stadium. Including the annual G-Day game, the Bulldogs have nine more practice sessions.

Friday was the second day of a two-day coaching clinic for high school coaches. More than 200 coaches participated in the clinic and had an opportunity to watch the practices.

"We have been pushing the guys hard and they are responding well to it," said Bulldog head coach Mark Richt. "We have a ways to go. We will be able to determine a lot more after (Saturday's) scrimmage so we'll see how that goes."

Senior receiver Jonathon Rumph is one of the Bulldogs on offense who will be looked to in the coming season. Rumph played in five games last season and finished with seven catches for 121 yards, but was slowed by a hamstring injury.

During the 2013 G-Day game, Rumph hauled in four catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

"Everybody expected a lot from me last year after how the G-Day game went, and I expected a lot of myself," Rumph said. "I am trying not to put pressure on myself and just have fun. If I'm having fun, then I will have a better chance of making plays."

The Bulldogs are working toward their annual G-Day game on Saturday, April 12, at Sanford Stadium. G-Day is slated for 1 p.m., with gates opening at 11 a.m. Admission will be free. Recommended Stories
