"I will be visiting Auburn on Wednesday and Thursday, then I will come back home to play a basketball game Friday night. I will then leave for Georgia Tech on Saturday to visit them Saturday and Sunday," Elder told Scout on Monday.
The 5-foot-10, 165 pound athlete out of Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth will likely meet with basketball coaches at Auburn and Georgia Tech this week too. Basketball is very important to him.
"I would like to play both sports in college. I have always loved basketball, but I like football a lot too. I know I could play both, so that is pretty important to me."
The two-sport star will likely announce his decision on signing day, February 6.
Two Big De-Commits Monday
Ford, a four-star running back out of New Hope, Ala. was the Commodores' top commitment up until Monday night. After visiting Auburn on Sunday, Ford picked up offers from Florida State and Georgia. It is uncertain who he will visit this weekend and who he may be favoring now, so stay tuned.
Florida State lost long-time commitment Austin Golson and all signs point now towards Ole Miss. Auburn was a school he has talked some about too, so we cannot rule the in-state school out completely, but the Rebels had him on their campus two weeks ago for an official visit, and he could return to Oxford once more this weekend.
We have seen a lot of de-commitments this year from guys that committed very early in the process and Golson was committed to FSU from April 2011 through January 2013.
Chris Jones is the top prospect in Mississippi and he has been committed to Mississippi State since June and he has appeared to be solid to the Bulldogs, but Ole Miss got him on their campus for the first time over the weekend.
The Rebels will now get the 6-foot-6, 255 pound defensive end back on their campus this weekend before he takes a final trip to Starkville.
"It went pretty well," Jones told Scout's John Garcia, Jr. about his first trip to Oxford. "I'm going back to Ole Miss on Friday and to Starkville on Saturday."
These visits will help the No. 20 prospect in the country finalize his decision.
He has picked up offers from schools coast to coast over the past couple months, but in the end, he will either stick with the Bulldogs or flip to the Rebels.
Big Monday Coming Up
Foster is a former Alabama and Auburn commitment, but he has taken official visits to Georgia and Washington as well. He may take one to San Diego State this week and then take his final visit to Auburn this weekend.
"I still do not know where I am going yet," Foster told Scout. "I will be ready Monday night though. I will have my mind made up then."
He has in-home visits this week with Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia.
Collins has taken all five of his official visits, so he has time to sit back, think things over, host some coaches, and make his decision.
His last visit went to Arkansas and they are considered to be a strong contender for the top running back in Florida. Miami hosted him the week before the Razorbacks and Collins is a former UM commitment.
Florida and Wisconsin are still in the mix too according to his coach Doug Gatewood, but most feel it is down to the Hogs and the 'Canes.
Both Foster and Collins will commit live on the Next Class: 2013 Monday night at 10pm ET on Fox Sports South.
Looking to Close Strong
Reuben Foster, Montravius Adams, Carl Lawson, Corn Elder, and more will be visiting Auburn this weekend.
Foster lives around the corner, so it is an easy trip for him as the Tigers try to get him re-committed.
AU is trying to hang on to defensive end Carl Lawson. The Scout100 prospect has remained committed while visiting Clemson and Tennessee in the month of January.
At one time, Auburn was felt to be the leader for Montravius Adams, but after the 2012 season and the coaching change, the Tigers slid down the list some. But the Tigers never gave up and Adams decided on Monday afternoon that he will take an official visit this weekend to Auburn with his mother.
Gus Malzahn is back at Auburn, this time as the head coach, and he has assembled a great recruiting staff. They will look to close strong this weekend.
