Biography:
Considered something of a ‘tweener — not big enough for fullback, not quick enough for tailback — the man known as ‘J-Train’ is expected to see backup action at both positions this fall. He shed 10 pounds since last season, which should improve his mobility and elusiveness, two areas which limited his playing time to date. 2002 - Started five games and finished with 569 yards on 125 rushes (4.6 yards per carry). He scored 10 touchdowns and had a long run of 62 yards vs. South Carolina. Also had a 58-yard TD run vs. Arkansas. 2001 - Rushed 11 times for 60 yards (5.5 yards-per-carry average) and scored two touchdowns in Tennessee’s dramatic victory at Florida. Biggest game statistically came against Vanderbilt, when he rushed five times for 43 yards. Also posted his season-best 26-yard run in that game. 2000 - Ranked as the nations No. 1 running back according to PrepStar. Named to the Parade All-America team, and was a second-team pick by USA Today. Tom Lemming ranked him as the nations No. 10 overall prospect and third-ranked running back. Rushed for 1,342 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior. A three-year starter at running back, he led his team to the quarterfinals of the 2000 Georgia 4A playoffs with a 10-3 record. Ran for five touchdowns against McNair High School and rushed for 228 yards. Also played end and linebacker. In track, he competed in the 100 meters, the 4x100 meter relay and the shot put.
