| A big body and a big hitter, Jones has the potential to be a top-flight collegiate LB. Has great closing speed and explodes through ballcarriers. Has very good core strength and above-average body control. Hips are a little tight, though it is barely noticeable. Does get hung up with OL and struggles a little when play comes at him. Jones collected 77 tackles in his senior year along with four for a loss, four interceptions and two forced fumbles.
He was selected AJC and GSWA All-State First Team 3A, Georgia Magaine All-State, Columbus Ledger Enquirer Defensive Player of the Year in back to back years, Orlando Sentinel All-Southern Team (GA), Press Register's Super Southeast 120 (#21), selected to the U.S. Army All-American Game.
A two-sport star, he finished his junior season with 157 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions. He helped lead his team to a 15-0 record and the 3A state championship.
Jones says he wants to major in education and reports a 2.9 core GPA and an 18 ACT, which he plans to retake.
Jones: "I have a nose for the ball. I can read and react quickly and I just love the game. I try to be in on every play.
"I have great coaches and I'm always trying to get better. I'm trying to improve on everything and want to get faster and work on my drops and quickness.
