2010 Fall Camp: Day 11 Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia practiced in jerseys, shorts and shoulder pads for 60 minutes Friday inside Stegeman Coliseum as the 2010 preseason camp continued here in the Classic City.

After about 20 minutes outside, thunder and lightning forced the Bulldogs indoors. During a 20-minute delay while a storm moved through, the Bulldogs changed shoes, switching from cleats to tennis shoes, and headed to the coliseum for the remainder of practice. The team held a walk-through in preparation for Saturday's scrimmage.

While the team prepared to head for the coliseum, Bulldog head coach Mark Richt attended the press conference of new athletic director Greg McGarity, who was introduced by UGA President Michael Adams at 4 p.m. The press conference was held adjacent to the coliseum at the Georgia Center.

"I wanted to go over there and check it out, and I got to shake his (McGarity) hand and told him I look forward to working with him," Richt said. "Everybody I know that knows him, thinks the world of him and say's he's tremendous. It's obvious he loves Athens and loves Georgia. I'm looking forward to getting to know him better."

Georgia's scrimmage at Sanford Stadium was switched from the afternoon to the morning due in part to allow the Ogletree brothers (freshmen Alec and Alexander) a chance to attend their sister's wedding.

"We talked it over, and I told their mother we'd make sure they make it to the wedding, because after all, you have to be there for your sister and be in all the family portraits," said Richt. "Also in the future, we'll probably make the switch to a morning scrimmage because it will be a little cooler and afterwards, it will give us time to grade the film and bring the players back that night to watch the film."

Richt provided an injury update on a couple of Bulldog linemen. Junior offensive guard Cordy Glenn, a projected starter, is "out for a while" due to mononucelosis while redshirt sophomore reserve tackle Jonathan Owens is out with a knee injury.

With Glenn out, junior Tanner Strickland has seen more practice time.
