Dawgs Dump Vandy By the Numbers

NASHVILLE - David Hale's look at Georgia's game with Vandy by the numbers.

Player of the game: Georgia receiver A.J. Green

Green provided more of his magic Saturday, with three receptions for 95 yards. His 65-yard catch-and-run was the longest of his career, and set the tone for Georgia’s offense with its first score of the game.

Key moment: The third quarter

With the Commodores suddenly only down a score a 17-10 early in the third quarter, the Bulldogs got the ball back and drove down the field for a 43-yard Blair Walsh field goal.

The Bulldog defense wouldn’t let the Commodores back in the game, forcing a three-and-out on Vanderbilt’s next possession.

Key decision: Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo coming to the sidelines

Mike Bobo came down the sidelines to try and give his offense a spark Saturday, and it seemingly worked. Bobo could be seen encouraging and coaching players as the game went on, and the offense responded with its most solid all-around performance this season.

Quarterback Joe Cox passed for 226 yards, the running game netted 173 yards, and the offensive line seemed to play better than it has in recent weeks.

Quote of the game: “It feels good. It’s good for the team. We’ve had a long seven-game stretch since camp, a lot of bodies beat up. We’re tired. We just need a break for a little bit. We’ve got nothing to lose with Florida. We’re just going out there to fight man.” — Georgia receiver A.J. Green

By the numbers: 95: Punt return yards for Georgia’s Prince Miller on two returns, including a season-high 55-yarder.

173: Rushing yards for Georgia, the most this season. Five tailbacks saw action Saturday.

7: Punts for Vanderbilt’s Brett Upson, as the Bulldog offense held the Commodores to just 10 points.
