Battle to Miss 2009 with ACL

ATHENS - Georgia defensive end Rod Battle will miss the rest of 2009.

The senior defensive end was injured during the first half of the Bulldogs' win over South Carolina Saturday night.

"He has an ACL injury that will cost him the season. It is sad because those guys work so hard. He is doing all of the things right and then this happens," head coach Mark Richt said.

Richt said it was unsure if Battle could apply for an additional year of eligibility due to the injury.

"You have to have two years of medical before you can apply for an additional redshirt, so I am not sure about what's going to happen there," he said. Recommended Stories
