Richt: Cox to Start Against South Carolina

ATHENS – Georgia's Joe Cox will start Saturday against South Carolina, a spokesman for the Bulldogs said this afternoon.

Rivals.com and ESPN.com incorrectly reported that Cox would be replaced in the starting lineup by sophomore Logan Gray earlier today. Georgia head coach Mark Richt said through the spokesman that Cox is the starter.

"Joe will be the starter Saturday," the spokesman said.

Cox shared snaps with Gray on the first team this week during practice, but according to numerous sources close to the program who spoke on condition of anonymity – that is not abnormal. Those same sources said that they expected Gray to get more snaps this Saturday, but that they had heard nothing of Gray staring the game, or even playing more than Cox.

Attempts to reach both Cox and Gray were unsuccessful.
