2009 Media Days: Legge's Look at Kentucky

BIRMINGHAM – Here's a look at the day Kentucky Head Coach Rich Brooks and the Wildcats had at the SEC's annual Media Day event.

Last season: 7-6
Series Record: Georgia leads 49-11-2

Last Year: Matthew Stafford found A.J. Green for the game-winning touchdown with minutes left in the game. Defensive end Demarcus Dobbs then grabbed the game-clinching interception to help Georgia beat Kentucky 42-38.

Georgia DE Demarcus Dobbs makes an interception in 2008.

Most memorable Georgia win: 1978 – Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Rex Robinson kicks a game-winning field goal as the Dawgs pull a tough win out in Lexington at night.

Most painful Georgia loss: 1988 – In Vince Dooley's final season, Georgia is upset and taken out of the SEC race after a difficult loss to the Cats. Had Georgia won the game Dooley would have retired with a share of the SEC crown.

Player to Watch: Micah Johnson is probably Kentucky's most productive defensive player. A highly recruited player who decided to stay in the Commonwealth to play for the Cats, Johnson ended last season with 93 total tackles. He had 13 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks.

2009's Big Question: Can Kentucky jump past Carolina once and for all for third-best team? That's not happed yet.

Recruiting Implications: Very little. There are times when Kentucky comes to Georgia to pick up the crumbs left over after Georgia, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Clemson and others have their dinner. The fact of the matter is that Kentucky couldn't get the top player from Georgia if they had to, and Georgia could be in the mix for the top player in the Commonwealth if they had to.
