Charles, who will decide between Georgia, Tennessee and Southern Cal Friday afternoon at a 4:30 press conference, is the former high school teammate of current Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray. The pair formed a tight bond at Tampa's Plant High School, but Murray has maintained that he has not pressured Charles about coming to Georgia.
"I respect Orson and his decision," Murray said late last year. The quarterback said he was not interested in pushing Charles to Georgia just because he in there.
Charles, like Murray, turned his back on in-state schools Florida, Florida State and Miami – a school he admitted was his "dream school" growing up. Charles has said that he is "comfortable" at Georgia. He said that Tennessee surprised him on his visit. Southern Cal has genuine coaches, he said earlier this month.
His decision between those three schools could also affect the Scout.com National Team Rankings. Georgia, with 3,823 points, will jump North Carolina to claim the #5 spot if Charles picks the Dawgs. Tennessee, with 3,106 points, would likely jump Arkansas to move into the top 20. It is unclear is Southern Cal would leap over Texas for 7th overall place in the rankings.
Dawg Post, the leader in Georgia recruiting coverage, will provide play-by-play coverage of Charles' press conference. Dawg Post in the only media outlet to have covered the press conferences of Aaron Murray, Kwame Geathers and Marlon Brown live. Coverage of the Charles press conference starts at 3:45 PM EST Friday.
