“Georgia did offer me early on Tuesday morning,” said Cameron Kenney. “I talked to Coach [Mike] Bobo and Coach [Bryan] McClendon and they both told me that they felt Georgia was close to offering me.”
“Coach Mark Richt then got on the phone and he offered me a scholarship to Georgia. We had a nice conversation at first and then he just came out and told me that I have a scholarship at Georgia if I want it.”
Does he want it?
“This offer brings a lot of things up for me now. I am still kind of committed to Auburn, but open to other schools too. I am not going to lie, it would be a dream to play at Georgia. When they offered, I started thinking about the past when I kept up with Georgia while growing up there. It really makes me think about things and Georgia is a school I am going to check out soon.”
Athens will not be the only college town Kenney visits. The four-star wideout plans to check out a few more schools before finalizing his decision.
Kenney will visit UGA in January
“I am probably going to meet with Auburn Head Coach Gene Chizik and talk to him soon,” noted the Garden City Junior College star. “He called me on Tuesday, so we plan to meet soon. I am also looking at Southern Miss, South Florida, Oklahoma, and some other schools. I plan on taking some visits in January.”
Auburn still has the edge, but Georgia has now become major competition for the Tigers. Even though Kenney does have ties to the Peach State, he is not going to jump at the Bulldogs offer.
“I just have to take my time and look at everything. I am going to take the visits, talk to coaches, and then talk things over with my mom. I am not going to make a final decision soon. I just want to take it slow.”
