Mimbs Named To Draddy Trophy Semifinal List

ATHENS - It was announced by the National Football Foundation Wednesday that senior punter Brian Mimbs has been named a semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy.

Mimbs is one of 164 student-athletes named to the list, which is college football's most prestigious academic honor. Each nominee must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first-string player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.

Former winners of the award include Derrick Brooks, Steve Young and Doug Flutie. The 2007 recipient was Dallas Griffin from the University of Texas.

Mimbs has punted 19 times for 779 yards for an average of 41.0 yards per punt this season with a long of 77 against South Carolina, which was a career-best. He was named a preseason All-SEC selection by the coaches earlier this season.
