"It was a grind out there," head coach Mark Richt said. "We got in a good bit of work on the installation of the game plan for this Saturday. We still have a long way to go, but we made progress. I doubt we've caught up to them from a preparation standpoint but we don't have that chance."
The Gamecocks played last Thursday, supplying them with two days advance working on this weekend's contest.
"Overall they are an outstanding football team, a team that I¹m sure is going to be playing a little bit wounded, knowing that they already lost one conference game," Richt said during the Bulldogs' game week press conference earlier in the day. "They know two losses in the league doesn¹t guarantee that you are out of it by any means, but it makes it a long shot. I know they will be playing with that in mind. We are very excited about our first Southeastern Conference game and we know it will take all we have.
"Our first conference game of the year is very meaningful to us," Richt said. "It¹s a source of excitement for our players and our staff. I can feel it already and it¹s Tuesday."
