ATHENS - Georgia head coach Mark Richt has dismissed Michael Lemon from the team.

"He’s been dismissed as a result of some poor decisions and conduct that is not in line with standards we have in place at Georgia,” said Richt in a statement.

Lemon was suspended from the program after his arrest on July 3, 2008 stemming from being charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor battery. He was released on a $6,500 bond.

Dawg Post's attempts to contact Lemon have been unsuccessful.

Lemon is expected in Macon shortly to testify in the trial of the man accused of killing his mother, 39-year-old Phaba Lemon, last February in Lizella.

“I have had discussions with Michael and he understands the decision. He expressed a desire to find a path back to the team at some point but that’s a decision that will depend on several factors and will come at a later date.”
