Lee takes in Athens

ATHENS – Dallas Lee was one of the most important parts of perhaps the most dominant high school team in Georgia this fall.

A towering, powerful offensive and defensive lineman, Lee teamed up with Omar Hunter to give Buford a 15-0 season en route to the AA State Championship. This weekend Lee took in the sights and sounds of Georgia’s junior day.

“It was nice,” Lee said of the day. “They just showed us around. They told me that they wanted to see me in a one-day camp later in year.”

He took in the usual tour of the Bulldogs’ football operations, and then watched Georgia play fourth-ranked Tennessee in basketball.

“I have been going to Georgia games for a while,” Lee said. “Today the focus was academics and stuff like that. I had not been to the dorms before and they were pretty nice.”

The junior from Buford has drawn interest from the Dawgs, Clemson and Vanderbilt. He was identified by many in the Gwinnett area as one of the top players in the county. The Gwinnett Daily Post named him to their first-team defense team because of his 71 tackles and nine sacks.

But the Bulldogs may see Lee as an offensive lineman – either way, that’s a long way away. Vanderbilt offered Lee this week, and he’s headed to Clemson next weekend for a junior day in Death Valley. For now, Lee enjoyed his short trip to Athens.

“They stressed that they want me to come to one their camps and see where it goes from there,” he said.
