Sugar Bowl Week 3: Monday Practice Report

ATHENS - The Georgia football team began a week of bowl preparation with a fun-spirited two-hour practice Monday.

"Everyone was in a good mood, and it's fun when the players are having fun," Georgia head coach Mark Richt said. "The fundamentals looked good, we got a lot of work in with our 11-on-11, and everyone was enjoying it. Now, we have to keep it up the rest of the week."

Georgia will go in full pads Tuesday before scaling back the remainder of the week. When talk turned to Hawaii (Georgia's Sugar Bowl opponent), Richt said the Bulldogs will have to be able to tackle well in the open field, force turnovers and do a good job of rotating in personnel to keep everyone fresh.

"Hawaii's receivers have great hands, they're physical, they know what to do and they do it well," said Richt. "It doesn't bother them to take shots from linebackers and safeties."

Richt added that Hawaii is a very tough-minded team that doesn't quit and they don't panic if they fall behind.

Georgia (10-2) will meet the undefeated Warriors (12-0) in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan 1, 2008. Kickoff for the game is slated for 8:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by FOX.
