ATHENS - After Saturday's upsets in college football, the Georgia Bulldogs have as good a shot as any to play for the national title.

Georgia could have a shot at the National Title Game. The results of the BCS will be revealed tommorow night on Fox.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt said early Sunday morning that the Bulldogs should play in the BCS National Title Game.

"Everyone is talking about winning a conference championship, but the bottom line is that the rules don't say that you have to win a conference championship to (play for it). That's been voted on I don't know how many times," Richt said.

“The bottom line is that is going to come down to what the voters believe. The rules state that you don’t have to be a conference champion. People want to hard on that, but that doesn’t matter. I think that we are one of the two best tams in the country right now. People have to vote the way they believe," he said.

We have won our last six games and won all the ranked teams we played and played lots of bowl teams. We have hit our stride and we are playing as good or better than anyone in the nation. We have played eight bowl-eligible teams, and I don’t know if anyone can match that. We beat Florida double digits. I know of another teams that had to have four or five fourth downs to get that. We beat Auburn by 25. We have been very, very hot as the season has gone on. I just believe that we are one of the two best teams and we deserve the right to play for it right now," Richt continued.

"Going into today we were #4 in the BCS. People voted us there because the believed that. People knew coming into this weekend that we could not win a conference title coming into this season, and they still voted us there for a reason," he added.

"Going into today we were #4 in the BCS. People voted us there because the believed that. People knew coming into this weekend that we could not win a conference title coming into this season, and they still voted us there for a reason. I don’t think anyone has the right to be upset if they don’t get it. LSU was number one twice and they lost twice. They had an opportunity to be #1 twice and they lost. Everyone has lost but Hawaii, and they may still lose. If you look at the system that is set up you have to decide: is Georgia one of the best two teams today? We are still the team that everyone voted number four – I don’t know why that would change," Richt said.

"Let’s play for the big prize – you know? That’s what everyone wants," Richt concluded. "I think if you look at the entire season, I really believe we are number one or two."

"We certainly believe that we could have won the SEC Championship. Do I think that we could beat LSU? Yes."
