ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs continue their season-opening, 3-game homestand by playing host to the Grambling State Tigers on Wednesday at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia arrives at this game having won its opener five nights ago, a 107-65 decision over Jacksonville State. It marked the first time in 21 years that a Georgia team had scored over the 100-point mark in a season opener.

The second half that Georgia played last Friday against Jacksonville State left no doubt that its freshman will figure prominently in 2008. Five first-year players combined to play 53 of the Bulldogs¹ possible 100 minutes. They also scored 35 out of their 60 points, shootinga collective 56 percent (14x20) from the field. Georgia¹s 60 second-half points were the most it had scored in a single half since November of 2001.

Tonight¹s game is just the second all-time meeting between the two schools with the oval ³G² logo. The inaugural meeting took place nearly eight years ago in the third round of the 1999 Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage. Georgia won handily, taking out the Tigers by a 113-74 count. Forward Shon Coleman led the Bulldogs in that game with 24 points, and guard D.A. Layne chipped in 19.

The Bulldogs will continue their season next Tuesday when they entertain Elon at 7:30. They will remain in Athens for the Thanksgiving holiday before traveling to Madison, Wis., on Friday to face the Wisconsin Badgers on Nov. 24.
