Kentucky Week: Monday Practice Reports

Posted Nov 12, 2007

ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs began preparations for their final home and Southeastern Conference game with a workout on Monday at the Woodruff Practice Fields.

The Bulldogs held meetings and lifted weights before a short practice under the lights on a chilly Monday evening.

The eighth-ranked Bulldogs currently are atop the SEC East standings with an 8-2 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the conference. No. 22 Kentucky is 7-3 and 3-3, including an overtime win against then-No. 1 LSU.

³We have all the respect in the world for Kentucky,² Georgia coach Mark Richt said. ³We know that we will need an excellent week of practice to be ready for them. Teams win games by paying the price during the week, and that¹s what we¹ve got to do.²

Earlier Monday it was announced that ABC will televise the Georgia-Georgia Tech football game in Atlanta on Saturday, Nov. 24. Kickoff has been set for 3:30 p.m. This will be Georgia's first appearance on ABC this season.

Also Monday, senior center Fernando Velasco was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for the second time this season. Velasco anchored the offensive line that paved the way for 417 total yards in the win over Auburn.
