Richt a Semifinalist For Munger Award

ATHENS - Georgia head football coach Mark Richt has been named a semifinalist for the George Munger Award for College Coach of the Year, Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski announced Wednesday. Richt is among 15 candidates for the award selected by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee.

Richt has guided Georgia to a 7-2 record this season including a 4-2 mark in Southeastern Conference games. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 10 in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls.

With seven wins already this season, Georgia has clinched its seventh straight winning season and seventh straight bowl appearance under Richt. The Bulldogs have won an SEC-best 60 games during the last six seasons.

The Maxwell Football Club will announce the winner of the 19th George Munger Award via press release in December. The formal presentation of the award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club's Awards Dinner, to be held March 7, 2008 at the Harrah's Entertainment Complex in Atlantic City, N.J.

Voting for the George Munger Award will begin on Nov. 7 and close on Nov. 30.
