Auburn Week: Monday Practice Report

Posted Nov 5, 2007

ATHENS - The Georgia football team began preparations for Saturday¹s critical Southeastern Conference contest with a workout on Monday.

Similar to their session the day following the Florida victory, the Bulldogs held meetings and lifted weights before a short practice under the lights on a chilly Monday evening.

The 10th-ranked Bulldogs currently are atop the SEC East standings with a 7-2 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the conference. No. 17 Auburn, Saturday¹s opponent from the SEC West, is 7-3 and 4-2.

³We¹re heading into our 10th game with most of our goals still in front of us, and that¹s a good thing,² Georgia coach Mark Richt said. ³We need an excellent week of practice, with all of our focus on a very good Auburn team. Today was an important day in getting our week started on the right foot.²

Earlier Monday, tailback Knowshon Moreno was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. Moreno registered a career-high 196 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Troy. He became just the 12th Bulldogs and only the second Georgia freshman to reach the 1,000-yard mark.

Also Monday, it was announced that Lincoln Financial Sports would televise the Nov. 17 game against Kentucky with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
