Lady Bulldogs Set Season Ticket Sales Record

ATHENS - More than 3,000 season ticket packages already have been sold for the upcoming Lady Bulldog Basketball season, surpassing the previous record of 2,940 established last year.

The increase marks third consecutive season a new season ticket sales record has been set for the Lady Bulldogs. Sales increased from 1,680 in 2005-06 to more than twice that many a year ago.

³The continued growth of our season ticket base is an essential element in the success of our program,² head coach Andy Landers said. ³We¹ve been blessed to have a very loyal fan base for many years. To have that group expanding at such a rapid pace is extremely exciting news.²

Season tickets are only $25 and remain on sale through Jan. 10, 2008. Season tickets can be purchased online via www.georgiadogs.com and by contacting the UGA Athletics Ticket Office 1-877-542-1231.

Beginning Nov. 1, all single game tickets remaining will go on sale. Single game tickets are $5 (adults) and $3 (youth).

All told, the Lady Bulldogs will play 16 games at Stegeman Coliseum this season, including five match-ups against teams that participated in the 2007 NCAA Tournament -- Temple, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

The Lady Bulldogs begin the regular-season campaign against Richmond, which is coached by former Georgia Associate Head Coach Michael Shafer, on Friday,Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m.. That contest is the first half of a doubleheader also featuring the Georgia men taking on Jacksonville State. The Lady Bulldogs will host three games in a five-game span to open the year, with George Mason and Georgia Southern visiting Athens on Sunday, Nov. 11 and Tuesday, Nov. 13, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs open and close SEC play with significant outings at Stegeman Coliseum. On Thursday, Jan. 10, Georgia will take on Ole Miss, which enjoyed its best post-season run ever last March when the Lady Rebels reached the "Elite Eight." On Sunday, March 2, the Lady Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season against defending national champion Tennessee.

The Lady Bulldogs are a pre-season top-10 pick in virtually every poll released to date. Georgia will welcome back three starters and five additional letterwinners from last year's team which posted a 27-7 record, finished as runner-up in the SEC and advanced to the "Sweet 16" round of the NCAA Tournament.

Landers, who was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame this summer, begins his 29th season in Athens 16 victories shy of his 700th win at Georgia and 34 "Ws" away from his 800th overall victory.
