Carlton Thomas Profile.
Thomas liked his second trip to Athens - a lot. So much, in fact, that he committed to the Bulldogs after a lengthy official visit that stretched deep into Sunday afternoon.
“Georgia is where I want to be,” Thomas said of his new school.
Thomas is one of the most sought-after players in the South. The Bulldogs beat out Clemson, Notre Dame, Iowa and West Virginia. Thomas was going to visit several other schools, he said, but indicated Sunday night that he would probably not take those visits now that he’s committed to Georgia.
“I love the coaches. I loved the atmosphere at the game. I loved the academics they showed me.” Thomas said. “Also, Georgia’s facilities are great.”
Thomas’ commitment is Georgia’s third this season from Florida – the Dawgs didn’t sign a single player from the Sunshine State last season. It’s also Georgia’s second running back – Cass’s Richard Samuel being the other – to commit to the Dawgs. Samuel is a bigger back as Thomas is 5-9, 172 pounds. The newest Dawgs said Georgia would try to use him early and often – getting him on the field as many ways at they could.
“They told me that they could use me in a bunch of different way,” the Frostproof, Fl native said.
But Samuel being committed to the Dawgs doesn’t bother Thomas. He said he just wants to be a Dawg, and that he’s not worried about anything else.
“It is the place for me,” he affirmed. “I felt very at home at Georgia. That’s why it was such an easy decision for me to make.”
Thomas is Georgia's second verbal commitment of the football season. The Dawgs had 17 commitments before the season started.
