Thomas Brown’s two-touchdown effort was his first multiple-touchdown game since Nov. 6, 2004, his freshman year. Although redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno is Georgia’s leading rusher with 268 yards on 47 carries this season, Brown remains the starter, Coach Mark Richt said Sunday. “I like the way it’s going right now,” Richt said.
Senior offensive tackle Chester Adams is expected to return to his starting role against Alabama. Adams was replaced by true freshman Clint Boling on Saturday because he was in offensive line coach Stacy Searels’ “doghouse,” Richt said. “Right now he would be slated to start,” Richt said. Boling, Scott Haverkamp and Chris Davis will compete for the two starting guard spots this week, Richt said. … The Bulldogs played 72 players against Western Carolina, which Richt thinks will help morale on the practice fields. … Mascot Uga VI earned his 78th victory on Saturday, setting the school record. He is now 78-26, surpassing Uga IV’s mark of 77-24-4.
QUOTABLE: “I don’t think we’ve scared anybody enough with our wide receiving corps and our passing game to make anybody think stop the pass first.” – Coach Mark Richt
INJURIES: All the players who missed the Western Carolina game – safety Kelin Johnson (ribs), cornerback Bryan Evans (knee) and tight end Na Derris Ward (groin) – are expected back this week. Defensive tackle Corvey Irvin suffered a left ankle injury against the Catamounts but said Saturday he expects to be fine this week. Richt had no update Sunday on Irvin.
