ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

NOTABLE: Nick Williams, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety prospect from Bainbridge High School made a verbal commitment to play for the Bulldogs on Sunday, according to Scout.com. He also was being recruited by Alabama, South Carolina and Louisville. … Defensive backs Ramarcus Brown and Donovan Baldwin return from two-game suspensions this week. Brown will help at cornerback. Baldwin could play cornerback or safety but probably will start at safety with Kelin Johnson’s health in question. … Brandon Coutu’s four field goals – from 33, 44, 39 and 34 yards – were a career high. He missed a 48-yarder. … Tight end Tripp Chandler’s three catches were a career high. All three of his grabs resulted in a first down. … Middle linebacker Dannell Ellerbe was Georgia’s leading tackler for the second straight game.

QUOTABLE: “I thought (the defensive performance) was pretty good overall. The only disappointing thing was that last drive for (South Carolina) to run the ball as well as they did. (At the end of the game) I was confident the defense would get the ball back to the offense with enough time to win, which they did.” -- Richt

INJURIES: Starting safety Kelin Johnson is questionable for Saturday’s game due to bruised ribs. The injury kept him out of the second half of the South Carolina loss. Reserve wide receiver A.J. Bryant, a Peach County native, is doubtful for the game and could be out longer due to cartilage damage and a bone bruise in his left knee.

UP NEXT: Western Carolina, Saturday, 1 p.m., Sanford Stadium, pay-per-view television from CSS.
