Still no news for Lumpkin's thumb

ATHENS – Senior tailback Kregg Lumpkin still was waiting Monday evening to learn when he might be able to return to the field.

Lumpkin broke his right thumb in the third quarter of Saturday's 35-14 win over Oklahoma State and the injury may require surgery, he said.

"It is (disappointing), but I've just got to get healed up and bounce back," he said, adding he doesn't know how long his return might take whether he has surgery or not.

Lumpkin entered the season with 1,656 yards, but he was beat out for the starting job by Thomas Brown, who combined with redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno to rush for 128 yards Saturday.

"Hopefully, Lump can get back and tote the rock a little bit and help us out a little more," Moreno said. Recommended Stories
