2007 Fall Camp: Day Four Practice Report

Mark Richt

ATHENS - In sweltering conditions Tuesday at the Woodruff Practice Fields, the Georgia football team held a spirited practice in helmets, shoulder pads, jerseys and shorts.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt said the team is looking ready to compete and hit, and once the team goes in full pads, it will be even more competitive.

³We¹ll put them in shells Wednesday and then in full pads Thursday when everyone will be excited, said Richt. ³Everyone is working hard and there¹s a high level of energy out there and that¹s good.²

The Bulldogs will have a single practice Wednesday and then their first two-a-day session on Thursday. The morning session on Thursday will feature the Bulldogs in full pads for the first time in preseason camp.

When asked about the running backs, Richt said seniors Kregg Lumpkin and Thomas Brown along with redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno looked ready to play.

³Thomas has showed no signs of fear or being tentative,² Richt said. ³He is going full speed.²

Brown missed the final six games of the 2006 season due to a knee injury. Richt added that true freshman Caleb King has learned a lot after four days of preseason camp.
