2007 Fall Camp: Day One Practice Report

Posted Aug 4, 2007

ATHENS The University of Georgia football team held its first preseason practice of the 2007 season at the Woodruff Practice Fields Saturday afternoon. The session lasted just over three hours with the players in the helmets and shorts.

³It¹s going to be an exciting year for us we are genuinely excited about the year ahead,² said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. ³We have a lot of unknowns and that probably makes it a little more exciting, but we are working hard.²

Georgia will practice in helmets and shorts again on Sunday and then will wear shells Monday through Wednesday. Thursday, Aug. 9, will mark the firsttwo-a-day practice with the Bulldogs donning full pads in the morning session.

³We have 29 practice opportunities until our first ball game and we will try to be ready for that moment,² Richt added. ³I like the way we finished theyear, I like the momentum we carried through the off-season, in spring ball and through the summer, and our guys look like they are in great shape.²

Justin Houston, the 6-3, 224-pound freshman from Statesboro, moved from defensive end to linebacker and worked out with that group on Saturday.
