ATHENS – Georgia’s football commitments keep rolling.

Jeremy Longo said that if he felt comfortable with his trip to Athens that he would commit to the Bulldogs – he did just that today.

“I told them that I am committed,” Longo said today. He will be back home tonight.

"The great coaching staff was what did it for me. They are wonderful people and they welcomed me with open arms. I mean Coach Richt, Coach Jancek, Coach Martinez and Coach Fabris – they were all great during the entire thing. I wanted to play in the SEC and compete for championships, and that’s what you get to do at Georgia."

Longo had been in Athens visiting the school with his parents. He had been in Miami to visit the Hurricanes last week, but said he thought he would like the atmosphere in Athens better – apparently he did.

“I knew that Georgia would be very high on my list if they ever offered me,” he said earlier this week.

"The entire weekend was great. I just got that feeling in my heart that this was where I wanted to be," he said on the way back home today.

The courtship of Longo started not too long after kicker Blair Walsh committed to the Bulldogs in the spring. After Walsh did so, the Bulldogs went down to South Florida to see what Longo had to offer. Now Walsh and Longo will arrive in Athens together.

“Coach Jancek just texted Blair and let him know that he has a roommate now,” Longo said with a laugh.

Longo becomes Georgia’s lucky thirteenth commitment. Although he felt strongly about Georgia on the way up to Athens, he said he knew he wanted to be a Dawg last night.

“I knew last night,” Longo said about committing to Georgia. “I just waited until I had a meeting with the. I told them that I was ready to be a part of the family.”

Part of an ever-growing family.

Longo is the third defensive end to commit to the Bulldogs, and looks like he could be the last at that position. He is Georgia’s 13th overall commitment for 2008 and is the third commitment since Friday, and the fifth since May 18 - the most of any program in the SEC during that time.
