2007 Spring Practice: Day 4 Practice Report

Posted Mar 9, 2007

ATHENS - Georgia dressed in full pads on Friday as the team wrapped up its first week of spring practice.

The workout inside Sanford Stadium included full-contact drills with 11-on-11 live action in the later stages of the day.

Also, the practice was viewed by many of the high school coaches who attended this week¹s Georgia clinic. Head coach Mark Richt said between 300-400 coaches attended, which was coordinated by Georgia's Coordinator of High School Relations Ray Lamb.

Richt mentioned a handful of players who stood out in the first week of spring practice.

³Sean Baily has caught a few deep balls and that¹s nice to see. (Fernando) Velasco and (Chester Adams) Cheese are doing a pretty good job. Paul Oliver and (Jeff) Owens and (Kade) Weston are doing a nice job,² Richt said.

Richt also said redshirt freshman linebacker Darryl Gamble broke a bone in his foot and will miss the remainder of the spring. His timetable for recovery is six weeks.

The Bulldogs now break camp for one week as the University¹s spring break begins Saturday. Practice resumes on Mon., March 19 and Georgia¹s annual G-Day game is set for April 7 in Sanford Stadium.
