ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's Cick-fil-A Bowl practices.

HOKIE OUT: Virginia Tech backup quarterback Ike Whitaker, who had played in five games and completed 10 passes for 119 yards this year, will miss the Chick-fil-A Bowl while receiving treatment for alcohol-related issues, according to a statement he released through the school Monday.

Sophomore Cory Holt, who hasn’t thrown a pass this year, will now back up Sean Glennon.

INJURY UPDATE: Tight end Martrez Milner (sprained neck), defensive end Charles Johnson (illness) and offensive tackle Michael Turner (illness) missed Georgia’s practice Monday.

Milner, who was wearing a small neck brace while watching practice, was out for the second consecutive day after being hurt in a practice collision, but he could return any day, he said.

“Every day it’s getting better,” he said.

Turner is being tested for strep throat, Richt said.

PRACTICE REPORT: Georgia changed it practice schedule Monday, canceling the second of two planned workouts and extending their morning session, which was in full pads. The Bulldogs will practice twice today and either once or twice Wednesday, Richt said.
