ATHENS - Josh Kendall takes a look at Georgia's game with W. Kentucky.

Georgia (1-0) vs. Western Kentucky (1-0)

Time/place: 7 p.m./Stegeman Coliseum

Broadcast: 940-AM

About Western Kentucky: Dennis Felton’s previous employer opened the season in impressivefashion, beating Kennesaw State 96-55 in Kennesaw. … The Hilltoppers are led by junior swing man Courtney Lee, one of the best players in the Sun Belt Conference. He averaged 17.4 points per game last year and had 20 in just 20 minutes in WKU’s opener. … Western Kentucky just signed B.J. Frazier, a forward from Stone Mountain, who also drew recruiting interest from the Bulldogs.

About Georgia: The Bulldogs did something Friday in their season-opener that they haven’t done in a long time, run away from an opponent. Georgia beat Southern 97-37, its biggest win since 1979. … Maybe the biggest, literally and figuratively, positive for Georgia in its opener was the play of sophomore center Rashaad Singleton, who had 14 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes. … The Bulldogs still are waiting for the debut of junior college transfer Takais Brown, which could come at any time. Brown is under indefinite suspension for academic issues. … Reserve guard Billy Humphrey is the leading scorer after one game (23 points).

Scouting report: Western Kentucky will provide a nice step up in competition for the Bulldogs in comparison to Southern, and there’s no chance of Georgia overlooking its opposition. Two years ago, the Hilltoppers beat Georgia in Athens. Last year, the Bulldogs returned the favor but barely, winning by four points in Bowling Green, Ky. Lee will be a good defensive challenge for the Bulldogs, who were vicious in their defensive effort this weekend. Look for sophomore guard Mike Mercer to get a chance to stop him in what will be the most interesting battle on the court.

Next: Georgia vs. Valdosta State, Saturday, 4 p.m., Stegeman Coliseum; Western Kentucky vs. Tennessee State, Sunday, 2 p.m., Las Vegas
