Auburn Week: Tuesday Practice Reports

Posted Nov 7, 2006

ATHENS – The University of Georgia football team (6-4, 3-4 SEC) practiced indoors at the Ramsey Center Tuesday afternoon due to inclement weather. The session went for an hour and a half and the players were in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts.

“The weather was not great today so we decided to go indoors,” said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. “We wanted to give their bodies a little bit of rest. They have been going for a lot of weeks in a row and hopefully that can help give us some life for the next couple of days. This was more about having a good mental practice.”

Richt also discussed some of the history behind Saturday’s game against No. 5 Auburn (9-1, 5-1 SEC), as well as his team’s preparedness, at his weekly press session earlier Tuesday afternoon.

“We are ready to go this weekend. We’ve got a huge game against Auburn. Everyone knows about the rivalry. It’s been close competition. Historically, Georgia has done well at Auburn, and Auburn has done well at Georgia. They are an outstanding football team. We’re playing an early game. I hope we have some juice left.”
