Georgia (6-4 overall, 3-4 SEC) will travel to Auburn (9-1, 5-1) on Saturday. Georgia is coming off a 24-20 loss to Kentucky, while Auburn knocked off Arkansas State 27-0 last week. The Tigers' only loss of the year was a 27-10 setback against Arkansas.
"Auburn is having a very good season, and we have a tremendous amount of respect for their players and coaches," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "We've got to keep fighting, keep pressing on, keep trying to get better. Iwas happy with today's practice. I didn't see anyone hanging his head. I thought our guys showed a lot of focus on getting ready for this game."
Richt announced the captains for Saturday's game will be Kregg Lumpkin on offense, Tony Taylor on defense and Tra Battle on special teams.
On Monday, it was announced that receiver Demiko Goodman suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Saturday¹s game against Kentucky. According to Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson, the injurywill require surgery and Goodman will be lost for the remainder of the season; however, a full recovery is expected. Goodman had 13 receptions for 187 yards while playing in all 10 games this season.
"He got hurt in the second quarter, but he played in the second half with a lot of energy," Richt said. "It was a shock to us and it was a shock to him. His injury is a lot of like (Sean) Bailey's, so we'll just have to see. But I would say he's got a pretty good chance to play next year."
