Kentucky Week: Monday Practice Report

Posted Oct 30, 2006

ATHENS - The Georgia football team began preparations for Saturday's road game by practicing for an hour at the Woodruff Practice Fields on Monday.

Georgia (6-3 overall, 3-3 SEC) will face Kentucky (4-4, 2-3) on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington. Georgia is coming off a 21-14 loss to Florida. Kentucky defeated Mississippi State 34-31 last week, and the Wildcats also have beaten Ole Miss in the SEC while falling to LSU, South Carolina and Florida in conference play.

"Kentucky has a lot of talent, and we respect their coaches and their players very much," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "We need a good week of practice to get ready for them, and I thought we had a good day today. I really liked our spirit. We've just got to keep grinding and keep working to try and get better."

Richt announced the captains for Saturday's game will be Nick Jones on offense, Tony Taylor and Quentin Moses on defense, and Drew Williams on special teams.

Georgia will play Saturday in Lexington against Kentucky. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will not be televised.
