ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

BIG, BAD BYE: Thanks in part to Florida having two weeks to prepare for Saturday’s game, Richt expects to see a healthy dose of Gator freshmen Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin.

Tebow, who relieves Chris Leak at quarterback, played only four snaps two weeks ago against Auburn, and Harvin, who splits time at receiver and running back, had four carries for 72 yards in the first half but just one touch in the second half.

“With this much time to plan, I don’t think there’s any doubt they’ll have an outstanding plan for Harvin and for Tebow,” Richt said.

Georgia plays 11 straight games before having a bye this season. The Bulldogs are scheduled to have an open date before next year’s Florida game, although athletic director Damon Evans still is searching for a 12th game and would play on that weekend if he had no other choice, he said.

Richt, who is 8-2 after a bye week, will fight hard to keep that weekend open, he said. (Florida’s Urban Meyer is 19-2 after a break.)

Georgia tried to construct its schedule so that, beginning in 2007, it would have an off week before both the Tennessee and Florida games, but the NCAA legislation adding a 12th game limited NCAA teams to just one off week per season.

“You would love to have an open date prior to an Eastern Division foe for sure,” he said.

THIS AND THAT: Kade Weston has moved back ahead of Ray Gant at defensive tackle, line coach Rodney Garner said. … Tight end Martrez Milner was very limited at Tuesday’s practice but still is very questionable for Saturday. … Quentin Moses has 23.5 career sacks and needs 5.5 more this season to finish second all-time.
