Some Things You May Not Know

Georgia defeated Mississippi State last weekend. Of course they did, they have never lost to Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State in the same season. OK, OK... that one was too easy. Georgia has never faced the other Bulldogs after losing to the Vols and the Dores in the same season. But, here are some other news and notes that you might not have known.

Here is the breakdown of the 3 running backs... I will keep using Thomas Brown for use of comparing...

Kregg Lumpkin -- 87 attempts, 475 yards, 3 TD... 12 receptions, 65 yards... 1 kickoff return, 11 yards... 100 total touches, 551 yards, 3 TD

Thomas Brown -- 62 attempts, 256 yards, 1 TD... 7 receptions, 71 yards... 15 kickoff returns, 379 yards, 1 TD... 84 total touches, 706 yards, 2 TD

Danny Ware -- 43 attempts, 198 yards, 2 TD... 9 receptions, 124 yards... 52 total touches, 322 yards, 2 TD

Also Brannan Southerland -- 34 total touches, 7 TD

-----------------------------------------

Here is the pass distribution list...

To the WR... 59 receptions (50.9%)

To the RB... 39 receptions (33.6%)

To the TE... 18 receptions (15.5%)

-----------------------------------------

Speaking of catching the ball... do you know the 15 different players have caught passes this season (last year it was 17)...

Of those 15 players... 10 of them have career-high receptions this season...

Martrez Milner, Demiko Goodman, A.J. Bryant, Brannan Southerland, Danny Ware, Kris Durham, Mikey Henderson, Tripp Chandler and Coleman Watson have caught more passes this season than in any other season. Kenneth Harris has tied for the most.

-----------------------------------------

As the Georgia / Florida game nears... did you know that this rivalry has been played in 6 different cities...

It has been played in Macon, Tampa, Savannah, Athens, Gainesville... and Jacksonville.

Here is a breakdown by decade in the series...

1900's -- UGA won 1-0

1910's -- UGA won 3-0

1920's -- UGA won 3-2

1930's -- UGA won 8-1-1

1940's -- UGA won 7-2

1950's -- UF won 6-4

1960's -- UF won 6-3-1

1970's -- UGA won 7-3

1980's -- UGA won 8-2

1990's -- I don't remember

2000's -- This one draws a blank, too.

-----------------------------------------

Here is a little twist on the series...

The two previous years in which the St. Louis Cardinals faced the Detroit Tigers in the World Series... Georgia defeated Florida in the real fall classic.

Not only did they win, they shutout the Gators.

In 1934, the Dawgs won 14-0 and in 1968, the Dawgs won 51-0.

The 9 times that the Cardinals have won the world series... Georgia is 8-1 in those years... including 3 shutouts, the only year Georgia lost was in 1967.

The 4 times that the Tigers have won the world series... Georgia is 3-1 in those years... each game either won or lost was resulted in a shutout.
