ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

INJURY UPDATE: Center Nick Jones, who wore a knee brace but walked without crutches Monday, said the chances are “good” that he’ll play this week against Mississippi State. Jones suffered a slight ligament strain in his knee against Vanderbilt. Richt said Sunday that Jones is doubtful.

UNSOLICITED ADVICE: Coming off two straight losses, Richt is expecting plenty of advice from fans this week whether it be on his weekly radio call-in show or via mail.

“One of the greatest things about college football is the passion, and because (fans) are so passionate, when things don’t go the way they want them to, they get hurt and they get bent out of shape and they want to figure out what the problem is,” Richt said.

For the most part, Richt said, he doesn’t mind hearing what the fans think might fix the Bulldogs’ problems.

“Some people have good opinions,” he said, “what they don’t have is the insight of knowing every single kid, seeing every single practice, knowing exactly what we’re trying to accomplish, and because of that, it’s difficult for them to have an educated opinion about what’s wrong.”

SEMANTIC DIFFERENCeS: Outsiders may call this a rebuilding year for the Bulldogs, but Richt will never use that word.

“When you start talking rebuilding, you’re just about telling your seniors that their season is not that important,” he said. “I want to win this year.”
