Georgia losing to Tennessee... bad! Losing to Vanderbilt... really bad! And if you add up all the injuries... really, really bad! There are still a lot of games left... oh yeah, 3 of them are against teams in the top-20 of the first BCS Standings. But after some searching here are some news and notes that you might find useful when talking to your friends.
Here is the breakdown of the running backs... unfortunately it will be easier the next few weeks, because i don't have to add
Thomas Brown
.
Kregg Lumpkin
-- 72 attempts, 395 yards, 2 TD... 11 receptions, 62 yards... 1 kickoff return, 11 yards... 84 total touches, 468 yards, 2 TD
Thomas Brown -- 62 attempts, 256 yards, 1 TD... 7 receptions, 71 yards... 15 kickoff returns, 379 yards, 1 TD... 84 total touches, 706 total yards, 2 TD
Danny Ware
-- 39 attempts, 202 yards, 2 TD... 8 receptions, 116 yards... 47 total touches, 318 yards, 2 TD
Brannan Southerland
has 27 total touches and 6 TD.
-----------------------------------------
Pass Distribution goes as follows...
To the WR... 44 receptions (45.8%)
To the RB... 36 receptions (37.5%)
To the TE... 16 receptions (16.7%)
-----------------------------------------
Do you know this was only the 2nd time ever that
Georgia
lost to both
Tennessee
and
Vanderbilt
in the same season, and only the first time it has happened in back-to-back games?
The first time in the same season was in 1994, which also happened to be the last Georgia homecoming loss.
Prior to the 1990's the Dawgs did not always play both in the same season. So many times when Georgia lost to one they did not play the other.
-----------------------------------------
Mississippi State
has only defeated Georgia 5 times in their history. It is the 2nd fewest among SEC schools.
Arkansas
has defeated Georgia just 3 times.
Here is a list...
Arkansas -- 3 wins in 11 games.
Miss State -- 5 wins in 20 games.
Kentucky
-- 10 wins in 59 games.
Ole Miss
-- 12 wins in 42 games.
South Carolina
-- 13 wins in 59 games.
-----------------------------------------
Speaking of Mississippi State and I do mean SPEAKING... Jack Cristil will be in the press box this weekend calling games for the other Bullogs... Cristil has been calling games for Mississippi State since 1953.
Larry Munson has been calling games for Georgia since 1966. But he has been calling SEC games longer due to the fact that he also called Vanderbilt games for 16 seasons prior to his current stint in Athens.
