ATHENS - Josh Kendall reviews the scores in Vanderbilt's upset win over Georgia.

FIRST QUARTER

Key moment: With Georgia’s offense facing third-and-nine, quarterback Joe Tereshinski found A.J. Bryant for a 20-yard gain to the Vanderbilt 11-yard line. The play set up Andy Bailey’s 23-yard field goal and the Bulldogs’ first points of the game.

Key stat: The Commodores had 4 yards of total offense in the quarter. The man: Hawkinsville’s Charles Johnson led the defensive effort from the opening drive. Coming off one of his most disappointing games of the season, Johnson had two tackles for loss on the opening drive of the game.

The score: Georgia 3, Vanderbilt 0

SECOND QUARTER

Key moment: Joe Tereshinski found tight end Martrez Milner for a 23-yard touchdown pass on third-and-three with 5:11 left in the first half to put Georgia up 10-0.

Key stat: Thomas Brown had eight carries for 65 yards. The man: Tereshinski was 7-for-8 passing for 104 yards passing in the second quarter, more yards than he had in the entire Western Kentucky game.

The score: Georgia 13, Vanderbilt 7

THIRD QUARTER

Key moment: With Vanderbilt on the verge of adding to a 14-13 lead, Tra Battle intercepted an awful Chris Nickson pass in the back of the end zone. It was the first interception of the season for the Forysth native.

Key stat: The Commodores were 3-for-4 on third down conversion attempts in the quarter, which is a big reason they scored 14 points. The only third down Vanderbilt didn’t convert was on Battle’s interception. The man: Commodore quarterback Chris Nickson completed six passes 99 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown pass to Earl Bennett.

The score: Vanderbilt 21, Georgia 13

FOURTH QUARTER

Key moment: Vanderbilt place-kicker Bryant Handfeldt made a 33-yard field goal with :02 left to give the Commodores the 24-22 victory.

Key stat: The Commodores were 1-for-1 on fourth down conversions in the quarter, converting a fourth-and-five when Nickson hit Sean Walker for a 6-yard gain. The man: Handfeldt was 4-for-8 coming into the season and missed two kicks last week, but he made the big one Saturday.

The score: Vanderbilt 24, Georgia 22
