Strange Tripp It's Been Premium Story
Tripp Chandler
Dawg Post
Posted Oct 11, 2006

Tripp Chandler made his first collegiate start this past weekend. He has seen many of the conference's top tight ends play ahead of him, but on Saturday it was his turn. The Bulldogs opened with a two tight end set and that was the break the lifetime Georgia fan was looking for. Now is looking for a catch. I had a chance to talk to Tripp this week and this is what he said.

Dave McMahon -- Monday you were wearing a green non-contact jersey... are you alright?

Tripp Chandler -- I had a very minor concussion during a kickoff on Saturday. The team is taking extra precaution. I will be wearing a red jersey the rest of the week.

DM -- How hard is it to lose in a game where you could have won?

TC -- It is never easy to lose, but we can learn from it. Losing to Tennessee was tough because they are a rival and they are in our division. Our offense looked better which is a moral victory, but you don't want moral victories.

DM -- You got your first career start, did your parents know?

TC -- I tell them everything. Being Dawg fans all our lives it was so exciting for everybody.

DM -- Still looking for that first catch though...

TC -- Being a tight end you realize that you are a lineman first and then a receiver. I will get one I just have to keep working hard.

DM -- And you are playing a lot of special teams...

TC -- I am on the starting kickoff team and the 2nd team punt team.

DM -- What does the offense need to do to get back on track?

TC -- We need to control the ball more and we need to lessen our mistakes.

DM -- There is still a lot of football left to play...

TC -- In class, my friends are talking about how the coaches must be killing us and I tell them that there is still at least 6 games left and that we have to be ready for all of them.

DM -- Thank you for your time and answers.
