Fernando Velasco
Dawg Post
Posted Oct 11, 2006

Fernando Velasco has started every game for the Bulldogs this season. He has seen the ups and downs of what this offense can do. Georgia is currently 47th in the nation in scoring offense and 91st in total offense. Winning is the ultimate goal for him, but the offense most get better for that to happen.

Dave McMahon -- This was a painful loss to Tennessee, but you have got to move on, right?

Fernando Velasco -- We came in on Monday and watched the film and we saw what we did and now we have to prepare for a new team. We have to concentrate on the rest of the games now.

DM -- Did you think the offense made any improvements this past week?

FV -- We improved, but the ultimate goal is to win and we didn't do that. The offense did make strides, but we have a long way to go.

DM -- Is there a different way for pass protect for either of the two Joe's or Matthew?

FV -- It is all the same scheme. We protect the same no matter who's back there?

DM -- Same thing with the running backs?

FV -- Same thing.

DM -- Which is easier for you pass protecting or run blocking?

FV -- I like them both. I will do whatever the coach tells me to.

DM -- There is not a lot of depth on the offensive line, about what percentage of the offensive plays are you out there for?

FV -- Close to 100%. Against UAB I didn't play much the last 10 minutes, but for the rest I am out there almost every play.

DM -- Looking over the stat sheet I have noticed there are not a lot of stats for offensive linemen... I have seen the term "Pancake Blocks" on some stat sheets... what is the most amount of pancakes that you have eaten at a time?

FV -- Probably about 7-8.

DM -- Is there any food you can eat a lot of?

FV -- Dan Inman next to me can eat a lot of wings, but I can probably eat a whole fried chicken, but not now I am on a diet.

DM -- Thank you for your time and answers.
